Work with us

As a medium sized metropolitan Council in South Australia, the City of West Torrens (CWT) offers you a chance to make a difference to the lives of residents in the community.

We are large enough that we offer learning opportunities to support you in your role, and we're small enough so that you're not just 'one of a number'.

With around 250 staff across various divisions, there is always something new happening and projects to be involved in.

What you'll do

As one of our Development Officers - Planning, you will be working within the City Development team providing high quality development and planning assessment services, both within the organisation and to external customers.

In this role you will undertake a variety of duties including:

  • assessing development applications

  • providing exceptional customer service within and beyond the organisation

  • implementing new processes, activities, and team culture initiatives

  • driving your own professional development and learning.

As this role is customer-focussed, you will promote a positive and professional image of CWT by providing friendly and professional service in a courteous and prompt manner.

Who you are

As you will be regularly liaising with customers on a range of development matters, it is important that you are committed to a high level of customer service and capable of providing consistent and accurate planning advice.

You will be comfortable managing your own workload and priorities while undertaking assessments independently and be a proficient report writer with the capacity to provide advice to the Council Assessment Panel. With upcoming changes to the planning system we are also looking for someone who embraces change and proactively adapts and thrives in new environments.

You must have a current Class C driver's licence and a tertiary qualification in Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent. You will also need to be eligible to join the Planning Institute of Australia in the Member or Associate Class.

Additional information can be obtained from Rachel Knuckey, Team Leader Planning on 8416 6321.

When applying for the role, please include a cover letter and a resume so we can get to know a bit more about you. This job needs to suit you as much as you need to suit us.

Applications close 5:00pm Monday 17 September 2018.
