Team Leader Community Safety and Amenity Support


We are seeking an experienced, dynamic and highly motivated administration Team Leader with demonstrated leadership ability to join Council’s Community Safety and Amenity team.

Reporting to the Manager Community Safety and Amenity, this position plays a key role in demonstrating leadership to drive the delivery of a customer focussed, timely and professional community safety and school crossing service with a strong culture of staff and community engagement and continuous improvement and innovation.

You will be responsible for:

  • Effective leadership of a team of administrative and support staff, with a positive impact on culture, change and service performance, displaying a high degree of political acumen, resilience and leading by example.
  • The coordination of a safe, efficient, effective and legally compliant School Crossings Service.
  • An engaged and productive team created through a focus on performance, team development, coaching and mentoring, fostered in an environment with empathy, and where feedback is actively sought and encouraged.
  • Outstanding customer and stakeholder outcomes achieved both internally and externally through effective stakeholder engagement, a collaborative one-team approach with effective negotiation and influence to achieve customer centric outcomes.
  • Determining the outcome of the Infringement Appeals Process on behalf of the Community Safety and Amenity department and in accordance with Councils Infringement Review Criteria.
  • An industry leading effective and efficient service, delivered through a continuous improvement culture, effective business processes and creative thinking and innovation.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Certificate IV in Government (Statutory Compliance) or relevant experience in the provision of a community safety/regulatory services support
  • Ability to understand and interpret State legislation and Council’s Local Laws.
  • Ability to manage resources, including staff, of the Regulatory Services Administration/Customer Service Team.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver administrative tasks on time and to a high standard, and be flexible in regards to changing priorities.
  • Ability to motivate and encourage other team members to deliver the required outcomes.
  • Previous administrative experience in a customer focused service delivery environment and in community education.

This is a permanent full-time position based at Council’s Civic Centre in Greensborough.
