Campbelltown City council has undertaken a review of its City Delivery team and this has resulted in the creation of a new team that will lead councils planning, design and management of open spaces that are relevant, exciting and create a unique and community centric open spaces across the City. We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and collaborative person to be part of the design team to deliver high quality and innovative open space and recreation projects. You will also have the opportunity to influence the provision and design of open space and public domain areas in a community that is undergoing significant urban growth.

About the role:

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, creative and collaborative Landscape Architect to be part of our design team to deliver high quality and innovative open space, recreation and public domain Projects.

In this role you will be responsible for: 

  • Preparation of masterplans, concept plans, strategies and standards that guide open space and public domain improvements undertaken by Council that ensure high quality outcomes
  • Working collaboratively across Council departments on the preparation and development of capital works projects, initiatives, strategies and guidelines.
  • Participating in the procurement, assessment and management of external consultants or contractors to assist in the delivery of Council projects.
  • Preparation of community engagement plans and management of consultation programs with internal and external stakeholder.
  • Preparation and/or coordinating Plans of Management and/or Master Plans for open space.
  • Provide technical and design support to the Open Space, City Delivery teams and other areas of Council as required.
  • Actively advocate, influence and contribute to projects and to provide landscape architectural advice and recommendations of public domain and public space improvements across the organisation
  • Reviewing landscape drawings, specifications and cost estimates prepared by consultants for land developers and other Council departments.
  • Assist the handover of open space development to be dedicated to council from developers.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following key skills and attributes:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Landscape Architecture or equivalent technical background.
  • Demonstrated experience and high level of technical skill in the use of design software including AutoCad, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce creative and innovative design options, including concept and construction drawings and specifications, covering public domain areas, streetscapes and open space projects.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Current Class C driver's licence.
