Primary Objective:

To supervise a team and provide clinical services, including comprehensive criminogenic assessments; delivery of criminogenic treatment interventions to individuals and groups; and, provision of Court related reports. 

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1.      Conduct clinical assessments and intervention services for adult offenders.

2.      Consult and provide professional advice to NTCS staff regarding offender assessment, management and interventions.

3.      Consult and liaise with other professionals and agencies to ensure coordinated assessment, offender management and intervention.

4.      Be an active member of a multi-disciplinary team and provide supervision to professional and administrative staff. 

5.      Provide reports on offender’s assessments as required, and maintain a high standard of documentation including client notes, records and statistics.

 

Selection Criteria:

Essential

1.      Tertiary qualifications in Psychology or Social Work with eligibility for unconditional registration as a psychologist or membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

2.      Extensive experience in the provision of clinical services including group work and individual interventions to a diverse range of violent and sexual offenders; and, demonstrated knowledge of current trends and best practice in treatment interventions.

3.      Experience in the administration and interpretation of a range of clinical assessment tools.

4.      Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and sensitively to clients from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds, in particular experience working with and communicating with Aboriginal clients.

5.      Demonstrated high level written skills including the ability to write professional reports and maintain all documentation to a very high standard.

6.      Demonstrated experience as a multi-disciplinary team member and in the supervision of allied health and/or administrative staff

 

Desirable

1.      Post graduate qualifications and/or experience working in forensic psychology or social work.

2.      Experience in the provision of offender treatment programs within a custodial environment.

 

Further Information: 

The Department of Correctional Services has a Smoke Free Policy.   Staff are not permitted to smoke anywhere on any premises, facilities or in vehicles, nor whilst working off-site.  Shortlisted applicants will be required to complete a pre- employment questionnaire and the successful applicant/s will be required to undergo a criminal history check confirmed by fingerprints and name check. A positive criminal history will not necessarily exclude an applicant from this position. All Department of Correctional Services employees are subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
