Key Responsibilities 

  • Oversee the day-to-day frontline operations of branch library services and circulation functions with a focus on delivering outstanding customer focussed services.
  • Supervise and support branch library staff to ensure they are able to effectively undertake the broad range of routine library duties.
  • Educate and train branch library staff in the provision of RFID enabled customer service to ensure high standards of service and quality control of library procedures.
  • Take responsibility for resolving customer matters including negotiating effective outcomes in challenging customer interactions.
  • Provide leadership to staff within work area, participate in work team activities and contribute to relevant training, professional development and change management strategies.
  • Assist in the provision of professional library services including information services and user-education.
  • Provide project management services for new operational projects such as electronic rostering to ensure the efficient and effective operation of library service processes and practices.
  • Oversee the high standard of presentation of the library to ensure it remains attractive and welcoming to customers and that buildings, furnishings and equipment remain in good condition.
  • Support the development and delivery of library programs and services ensuring they reflect local community needs.
  • Take responsibility for the collection, recording, safe delivery and balancing of all monies collected in the course of daily library business.
  • Supervise the trainee and placement programs within the branch library.
  • Foster an organisational culture which is positive and motivated, promotes teamwork and taking responsibility, and encourages continuous improvement.
  • Such other relevant duties as required from time to time which would generally fall within the scope of this position.
