Primary Objective: Provide high level project management, technical and geospatial (mapping and analysis) services, advice and support to develop, enhance and maintain the all of government web interface BushTel and associated systems, ensuring compliance with government policies, standards and procedures.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1.   Provide expert advice on design, management and operation of the Remote Information and Coordination System (RICS) including BushTel and associated web interfaces.

2.   Manage negotiations with external IT consultants and client agencies to identify appropriate solutions that support business objectives.

3.   Develop, implement and evaluate options for information management and communication systems across the organisation that facilitate Remote Engagement and Coordination.

4.   Provide high level leadership and management to a small team to achieve quality outcomes.

5.   Implement and maintain geospatial information management services for the 'BushTel' web interface.

6.   Maintain a high level of operational expertise in the use of specialised GIS software

7.   Develop innovative products for the display and dissemination of remote Aboriginal community data and information.


Selection Criteria


1.   Demonstrated high-level written and oral communication skills with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly and with influence using an evidence-based approach.

2.   Ability to consult and collaborate with a diverse range of staff, clients and stakeholders from varied cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

3.   Demonstrated experience to problem solve, negotiate, work flexibly, be adaptable and responsive to the needs of clients and stakeholders and demonstrate tact and initiative.

4.   Extensive knowledge of contemporary project management principles, practices and techniques.

5.   Expert knowledge of Geographical Information Systems and ETL software, particularly in relation to ESRI products and Feature Manipulation Engine (FME).

6.   Extensive knowledge of spatial information management principals, standards and practices.

7.   Sound knowledge of databases such as Oracle and SQL.



1.   Degree in Information Technology or equivalent

2.   Knowledge of the structure and functions of the Department of Housing and Community Development.
