About us

The Community Operations and Victims Support Agency (CO&VSA) Policy team leads the development and implementation of victims, family violence and sexual assault policy within the Department of Justice and Regulation. This includes working closely with other areas of the department, Justice entities and across government departments and with external stakeholders. The team plays a key role in policy development and co-ordination of victim, family violence and sexual assault reforms across Victoria. The team will also work on policy matters relevant to other areas in CO&VSA including honorary justices.

About the role

As the Senior Policy Officer, you will be part of a policy team focused on victims, family violence, sexual assault and diversity issues.

In this role, you will:

  • analyse and proactively influence policy development across government departments, agencies and entities to ensure victims' perspectives are effectively considered and reflected
  • develop innovative, evidence-based victim-centric policy options in line with government priorities including implementation of the Royal Commission into Family Violence recommendations and broader victims of crime policy
  • provide expert advice to Senior Management and key stakeholders on victims' issues and perpetrator interventions.

Please note this is a fixed term 12 month position. Part time hours maybe considered.

  • demonstrated high level analytical and policy skills
  • demonstrated skills in the use of data to inform policy development
  • demonstrated project management experience, including the ability to achieve objectives within tight timeframes.
