An opportunity exists for a highly skilled team player to write, edit, proof and compile online and print publications as part of the Publishing team within the Communications Unit of the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA). To be successful in the role you will have minimum four years’ experience editing and writing content for online and print, as well as providing authoritative editorial advice to internal clients.


The successful applicant will provide high level writing and editing services including sourcing content for VCAA communications. The Editor is responsible for editorial standards including the authoring and maintenance of the VCAA Editorial Style Guide and the provision of advice and support to internal clients on best practice in written communication. The Editor also conducts training and quality control for the VCAA's use of email messaging/marketing tools, manages digital communications databases and provides guidance on structuring content for the web.


Demonstrated skills in editing and writing, attention to detail and passion about working in a team are essential for the role. The ability to champion editorial standards and collaborate with subject matter experts to translate complex curriculum and assessment information in to plain english is critical.


The position requires strong digital skills in web content management systems, email messaging and database management tools, as well as the provision of training and advice on these tools to others. The role also provides scope to assist with the provision of strategic communications advice and the development of publishing schedules and guidelines.
