Primary Objective:

Provide high level leadership of the Department’s delivery and coordination of operational services to enable high quality delivery of the Education NT Strategy and support schools in achieving continuous improvement of educational outcomes for all students.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1.     Provide executive level leadership and strategic direction to staff across six regional offices and play a key role in inter-agency coordination and implementation of strategic initiatives and specific projects.

2.     Deliver a complete range of school operational support services to 152 schools across regional operational settings in the NT to enable schools to achieve better outcomes for students and schools.

3.     Broker corporate services and other support functions from within the Department, external consultants and other central support services.

4.      Develop constructive and collaborative partnerships with multiple government and non-government stakeholders to assist in the management of complex government and educational issues, and the implementation of government and departmental strategic priorities.

 

Selection Criteria

Essential:

1.     Highly developed strategic, conceptual and analytical skills and demonstrated ability to interpret the political environment, lead change and multifaceted projects that develop innovative solutions to support education system improvement.

2.     Evidence of outstanding written and oral communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills and the ability to lead and motivate internal staff and external stakeholders, and manage complex issues.

3.     Demonstrated high level ability to build and maintain effective networks with a range of internal and external stakeholders and interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.

4.     Demonstrated ability to work as part of a senior leadership team to drive improvement and contribute to organisational outcomes.

5.     Proven record of delivering results through thorough research and investigation, deep analysis and interpretation, program management and stakeholder and community consultation.

6.     Demonstrated high level knowledge and understanding of school and system operational policy and processes.

7.     Demonstrated financial acumen and highly effective budget management experience.

 

Desirable:

1.     Tertiary graduate and post graduate qualifications in a field relevant to the responsibilities of the position.
