North Sydney Council administers the North Sydney local government area on Sydney’s picturesque lower North Shore. Our 400 employees look after 71,000 residents spread across 10 square kilometres of land on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour providing spectacular harbour views, beautiful parklands, and a bustling CBD.


An exciting opportunity currently exists for a Corporate Planning Coordinator to join the Integrated Planning and Special Projects team.


While assisting with projects as required, the position will manage the following tasks:

  • Coordinate the development and maintenance of Council’s Integrated Planning and Reporting (IP&R) framework, specifically the review of Council’s Delivery Program, Operational Plan and other corporate documents.
  • Coordinate the development of the Annual Report and six-monthly reports as required by the IP&R framework.
  • Develop and measure organisational performance established benchmarks through the collation of Key Performance Indicators.
  • Identify and implement long term best practice options for Council’s operational planning.


This position is based at the Council Chambers, located in a beautiful park setting, close to public transport and recreational facilities.


Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or significant in corporate planning or a related discipline.
  • Experience in the preparation of strategic and operational plans, as well as reporting as required, of the local government Integrated Planning and Reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in statutory report writing, preferably for senior executive or public publication.
  • Advanced communication skills through written and verbal communication.
  • Experience in statistical data capture, manipulation, analysis and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively, and to problem solve issues to resolution.
  • Ability to understand a diverse range of Council activities and identify issues and solutions to enhance business performance.
  • Demonstrated project management skills to achieve work goals to meet planned targets and deadlines.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computer applications and in particular, the Microsoft suite of products (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel).


Desirable

  • Experience with performance management system software application.
  • Knowledge of indicator and performance measurement frameworks and methodologies.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in change management.
