The State Solicitor's Office has an outstanding opportunity for an experienced senior commercial lawyer to fill a vacancy within our senior executive legal team.

The Deputy State Solicitor is one of two Deputies, each with individual areas of specialisation, reporting to the State Solicitor. The appointee to this position will be responsible for providing high level legal advice on commercial matters involving the State and its instrumentalities, as well as providing leadership support to the State Solicitor, and broader leadership within the State Solicitor's Office.

Demonstrating an extensive knowledge of the statutes and legal principles material to commercial activities of the State, this individual will use their well developed negotiation and legal skills to conduct, coordinate and complete sensitive commercial matters and lead a team of commercial lawyers and support staff.

We are seeking to appoint a senior commercial lawyer - an accomplished and successful member of the profession. Whilst very high ethical standards, personal integrity and honesty are assumed in the role, the successful candidate will also possess outstanding skills necessary to develop and maintain effective relationships with Government Ministers, Chief Executive Officers, Executive Directors and other public servants at all levels.

Significant intellectual and conceptual ability is essential to enable success in situations with high levels of complexity and conflicting priorities.

An attractive remuneration package will be offered including salary, superannuation and private use of a motor vehicle (or notional value), with the salary to be determined by the WA Salaries and Allowances Tribunal (

This full time position is being offered on a five year contractual basis. Options for renewal exist subject to satisfactory performance.
