Library Officer – Duaringa



The Library Officer is responsible for providing efficient and effective public library services in alignment with the Library’s Strategy and Action Plan. This includes; customer service, library operations, administration, marketing, facilities monitoring, community development and events, programs and services. It may also include special project work as allocated. This position is being offered on a full time basis.


Key Duties for this role are:

Customer service.

  • Assist tourists with their enquiries and promote the region.
  • Provide reference and circulation support.
  • Assist in operating equipment and resources.

Library operations.

  • Assist with intra and inter-library loans, ensuring efficient transport of stock.
  • Shelve items, shelf check, tidy and back-shelve collections.
  • Catalogue and end process resources.
  • Assist with the mending and cleaning of library resources.

Administration.

  • Collect, sort and deliver incoming and outgoing mail as required.
  • Assist with notices and accounts for lost and damaged stock.
  • Assist with compiling staff rosters and communication across council.
  • Assist with the raising of purchase orders for invoice payments and ordering.

Marketing.

  • Assist with promotion of events, programs and services.

Facilities.

  • Maintain a tidy and welcoming environment.
  • Assist with disassembly, arrangement and construction of shelving.

Community development.

  • Support community development through partnerships and planned activities.

Events, programs and services.

  • Assist as required in all events, programs and services.
  • Assist the delivery of activities to children, youth and seniors.

Your application must address your skills and experience in the following mandatory requirements:

  • Current C class open driver’s licence
  • Queensland Working with Children Blue Card, or ability to obtain one.
  • Competent of a wide range of Microsoft programs.
  • Previous experience in customer service, library and/or related disciplines.

As part of the interview process you are required to undertake the following pre-employment checks:

  • Right to Work in Australia.
  • Medical Assessment including Drug & Alcohol testing.
  • Working with Children Blue Card check.


Central Highlands Regional Council will arrange these checks for the preferred candidate following interview.
