Primary Objective:

Undertake regulatory authorisation actives, including critical analysis of applications across the range of legislative frameworks administered by the agency within the Licensing - Liquor, Gambling and Racing workgroup.  Preparation and presentation of reports in relation to the applications to various stakeholders, including statutory bodies.  The ability to provide detailed advice on application processes and statutory requirements across the frameworks.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

1.      Processing and critical analysis of applications administered by the Liquor, Gambling and Racing Licensing Group in accordance with statutory requirements across the broad range of legislative frameworks, and in conjunction with relevant stakeholders.

2.      Administer and provide advice on relevant legislation and exercise statutory responsibilities.

3.      Liaise with and assist industry, stakeholders and the community in relation to licensing enquiries.

4.      Write or oversee completion of reports, decision notices and ministerial briefings for senior management.

5.      Actively contribute to process review, continuous improvement and best practice licensing activities.

6.      Provide public and community education and awareness programs in relation to licensing requirements.

 

Selection Criteria

Essential:

1.      Demonstrated analytical, judgement, problem solving, investigative and research skills.

2.      Well-developed interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, demonstrating the ability develop and maintain productive professional relationships with stakeholders and to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures.

3.      Well-developed written communication skills, demonstrating the preparation of concise and thorough reports, briefs and correspondence.

4.      Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legislative frameworks, policies and procedures, preferably in a regulatory framework.

5.      Demonstrated ability to operate as a team member as well as independently, to work under pressure, make sound judgements and to prioritise your workload in a busy environment while meeting required deadlines.

6.      Current driver licence.

 

Desirable:

1.      Previous knowledge and experience in a licensing/regulatory environment.

2.      Relevant tertiary or other qualifications and a commitment to on-going self-development.

 

Further Information: 

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a criminal history fingerprint check before appointment can be confirmed.  The successful applicant may be required to travel to remote locations by light plane or 4WD vehicle.
