The Whitsunday Regional Council is situated at the heart of the Great Barrier Reef.  The region encompasses the 74 tropical Whitsunday Islands, the coastal towns of Cannonvale, Airlie Beach, Jubilee Pocket, Shute Harbour and Bowen along with the rural towns of Proserpine and Collinsville.  The Whitsunday region offers a dynamic environment and is perfectly placed to live, work, play and invest.


An exciting opportunity exists within our Corporate Services Directorate for a Manager Innovation and Technology. Reporting to the Director Corporate Services we are looking for an experienced individual to provide Leadership, Strategic and Operational direction in the areas of Information Technology. Geospatial Information Systems and Records Management.


As the Manager Innovation and Technology you will be responsible for

  • Deliver on Council strategies and policy for the effective use of information and technology to support current and future business requirements, keeping abreast of available hardware and software technology, monitoring the performance of existing facilities and identifying opportunities.
  • Enhance the use of technology across the organisation, including information asset architecture, network architecture, e-Services, contemporary applications and solutions, workforce development and training.
  • Effectively lead a team of information professionals, including recruitment and development of staff capabilities.
  • Preparation and presentation of well-researched, clearly structured and concise reports relating to the areas of responsibility.

Please note that you will be required to partake in a 3 month probation period and submit 100pts ID for a National Police Clearance.
