Subdivision Engineer

The position of Subdivision Engineer provides professional engineering assessment, evaluation and comment on subdivision and development projects within the municipality which require planning permits. The Subdivision Engineer will be required to carry out various administrative functions associated with the certification of plans of subdivision, issuing of statements of compliance, and the receipt of bonds and fees.

The Subdivision Engineer is responsible for ensuring infrastructure assets created through subdivision or other developments are in accordance with the relevant engineering standards; and will assist in developing and enhancing policies and procedures relating to Land Development which complement Council’s long term strategic direction. The position also provides accurate and reliable technical advice to external customers and to internal organisational service and policy areas.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • A Degree Civil Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills related to a range of Civil Engineering functions
  • A proven ability to manage time, set priorities and organise own work program in the most efficient and effective way possible to enable completion of projects within budgets and set timelines
  • A proven ability to provide professional engineering assessment, evaluation and comment on subdivision and development projects within the municipality which require planning permits.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team working skills including the ability to interpret enquiries or complaints from the public and investigate, solve and advise appropriately in a timely, accurate and courteous manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to write objective reports with practical recommendations, acceptable from Engineering, Council or client viewpoints.
