Primary Objective: Provide high level strategic advice to executive management on the provision of Corporate and Business Services and the development and improvement of business capabilities and systems in the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).  Provide high level leadership and management to the Business Capability and Systems team.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

1.   Provide high level strategic advice to executive management on the provision of Corporate and Business Services and the development and improvement of business capabilities and systems in DPP. 

2.   Provide high level strategic direction, leadership, management and advice in the delivery of innovative and responsive Corporate and Business Services and business management strategies, policies and services to the DPP.

3.   Lead the development and implementation of major projects to improve the business and operational performance of the DPP. 

4.   Lead and manage the development and implementation of policies, procedures and practices to provide effective and efficient corporate and business services and systems.

5.   Lead the design and implementation of sustainable and innovative learning & development, human resource and employee relations initiatives to improve business efficiency and effectiveness.

 

Selection Criteria

Essential:

1.   Ability to provide high level strategic advice to executive management on the provision of Corporate and Business Services and the development and improvement of business capabilities and systems in DPP.

2.   High level of contemporary leadership and management skills including strategic and business planning, program and project management, HRM, HRD, budgeting and management of output performance. 

3.   High level strategic, conceptual, analytical and creative skills, including an ability to understand the political, social, economic and organisational environments and integrate this knowledge into advice.

4.   Proven ability to successfully manage strategic change and the ability to effectively negotiate with a range of stakeholders.

5.   High level written and oral communications skills including a sound knowledge of Ministerial and Cabinet correspondence and processes, or the ability to quickly obtain such knowledge.

6.   A thorough understanding of Government Financial Systems, including Legislative and Statutory policies and procedures relating to budget management, procurement and contract management, or the ability to quickly obtain.

7.   A thorough working knowledge of the Public Sector Employment and Management Act, Northern Territory Legislation including specific determinations relevant to legal staff, or the ability to quickly obtain

8.   Well-developed cross cultural awareness skills together with a sound understanding of Indigenous issues relevant to the DPP.

 

Desirable:

1.     Sound knowledge of DPP's businesses, organisational structure, culture and political environment.
