Building and Asset Services

Our contribution: We manage Government's risk for Building and Asset management through advanced procurement, project and program arrangements (including contract management) across a range of services including disaster and emergency response; asbestos management; statutory and service maintenance; asset and facility management; property services; and capital planning and delivery.

Our focus: is to deliver coordinated procurement and contract management services for building, construction and maintenance-related activities for Queensland Government agencies, focusing on providing value for money. Currently Building and Asset Services is structured into five functional groups of Customer Relationships and Program Management, Technical Services, South East Queensland Operations, Northern Queensland Operations, Central and South West Queensland Operations across six (6) major regional centres including Far North Queensland (Cairns), North Queensland (Townsville), Central Queensland (Rockhampton), South West Queensland (Toowoomba), Wide Bay Burnett (Maryborough), and South East Queensland (Brisbane).

Your contribution:

The primary purpose of the position is to effectively manage and coordinate project planning and delivery activities in order to maximise project profitability and ensure client satisfaction.

The position reports to the Operations Manager and supervises various office staff,  field staff and contractors who perform a range of project planning,  product delivery, contract supervision and client liaison activities.

The responsibilities of the position include:

• Planning and delivering projects through the efficient supervision and development of office staff, field staff and subcontractors and the effective management of resources such as plant and equipment, depots and motor vehicles.

• Monitoring and reviewing project standards using effective work order management techniques that monitor and report to stakeholders on the status and quality of service, project delivery and expenditure, and achieve compliance with industry best practice and agreed cost and time parameters.

• Managing regional resources to effectively deliver construction maintenance and upgrade projects ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies and practices.

• Providing a high level of supervisory services in respect to the delivery of construction, maintenance and upgrade work undertaken by BAS.

• Developing and maintaining positive relationships with clients through effective and regular communication, sound negotiation and the achievement of program outcomes which meet client expectations.

• Maintaining a healthy and safe work environment, ensuring compliance with current human resource practices and principles, including employment equity, anti-discrimination and workplace health and safety.

• Promoting BAS products and services to existing and prospective clients through regular meetings and established forums, and identifying opportunities for new business services based on emerging trends in asset management.

• Provide operational contract supervisory services in respect to construction and engineering contracts on major and complex projects.

• Please note this role will require the occupant to regular travel to other locations within Queensland which may include overnight stays up to 4 nights.
