In this challenging senior role your responsibilities will include:

• Provide expert strategic advice and support to the Director, Business Management Office (BMO), the General Manager PDO, the Deputy Director General Infrastructure Management and Delivery (IMD) and those on the Executive Leadership Team of IMD on financial and procurement matters including budgeting, financial analysis and reporting, asset management and costing activities.

• Lead and manage the development of divisional budgets and financial plans and the implementation of strategic initiatives to improve financial outcomes for PDO.

• Develop comprehensive quality submissions and reports on complex financial management issues and ensure the presentation of accurate financial data and analysis to support PDO and IMD needs.

• Develop, negotiate and maintain relationships and partnerships with corporate Finance and Procurement Branch, Corporate Divisions and other key internal and external stakeholders.

• Identify, lead and implement opportunities for continuous improvement through proactive education, support and advice to others in PDO with a specific focus on managers.

• Manage a demanding work programme and significant projects to ensure the delivery of successful financial management outcomes within agreed time frames and resource constraints.

• Contribute to the development of corporate financial policy, strategy and initiatives in the advocating of PDO's needs and priorities within a corporate framework.

• Provide leadership, direction and support to the finance team and to multi-disciplinary project teams as required. 

• Lead PDO goods and services procurement, including the implementation of the ECS.

• Proactively manage and supervise all aspects of staff performance including recruitment and selection, appraising and developing staff, ethical behaviour and decision making.

• Provide a safe and healthy workplace through managing resources to ensure compliance with workplace health and safety and employee rehabilitation legislation, codes of practice, standards and departmental policy and procedures including risk management and corrective action programs.

This role reports to the Director BMO and has five to six direct reports dependent on the work programme.

Skills & Experience:

• Tertiary qualifications in accounting and/or financial management would be desirable but not mandatory for the current position, along with CPA or CA qualifications.
