Community Development Officer CRG

Central Highlands Regional Council is currently seeking a Community Development Officer, specialising in Community Reference Groups.

Council is committed to working with its community and has establishing the Central Highlands 2022 Community Plan. Realising our local priorities through placed based community plans. Our thirteen place based plans recognise the unique and diverse communities within our region and gives equitable representation.

The Community Development Officer CRG is responsible for coordinating, facilitating and engaging with the community reference groups in accordance with the Central Highlands 2022 Community Plan.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within the Community Development team on a community planning project unique to local government.

Your application must demonstrate your skills and experience in the following mandatory requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in community development, community engagement and/or related disciplines
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging and partnering with the community to design and delivery community development programs and initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience with organising, promoting and conducting community events, functions and/or meetings
  • Experience with community organisations and club governance, meeting procedures and grant writing
  • High level of project management, report writing and presentation skills
  • Working with Children Blue Card
  • Minimum of Queensland C class provisional driver’s licence

As part of the interview process the preferred candidate is required to undertake relevant pre-employment checks. The pre-employment checks relevant to this position include:

  • Right to Work in Australia
  • Medical Assessment including Drug & Alcohol testing.
  • Working with Children check (Blue Card)

Central Highlands Regional Council will arrange these checks for the preferred candidate following interview.
