Senior Youth Development Officer

The Senior Youth Development Officer is responsible to lead, deliver and report on the progress of activities, programs and events to the Central Highlands youth related strategic documents. This position will work as part of the Community Development unit to successfully deliver council’s community planning, development and engagement activities. The senior Youth Development officer will also lead and mentor the 2 x Youth Development Officers’ that report directly to the position.

Your application must demonstrate your skills and experience in the following mandatory requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in community development, community engagement and/or related disciplines
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team to achieve goals
  • Demonstrated experienced in engaging and partnering with the community to design and deliver youth development programs and initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience with organising, promoting and conducting community events, functions and meetings
  • Experience with community organisations and grant and report writing
  • High level of critical thinking, problem solving and project management
  • High level communication skills to build and foster relationships with youth, their families, internal and external stakeholders and other organisations
  • Queensland Working with Children Blue Card
  • Minimum of Queensland C class provisional driver’s licence.

As part of the interview process the preferred candidate is required to undertake relevant pre-employment checks. The pre-employment checks relevant to this position include:

  • Right to Work in Australia

Central Highlands Regional Council will arrange these checks for the preferred candidate following interview.
