You have a passion for logical problem solving in a fast paced environment.  You are confident working autonomously but enjoy the team atmosphere and share achievements but is not afraid to ask for assistance when needed.  Your role will be different every day and you enjoy the mixture of working at different locations while communicating positively with a variety of internal employees and external contractors. 

This is an entry level traineeship position. It is beneficial if you have completed a Certificate II level qualification through TAFE, VCAL or VET. Recent Secondary School leavers are encouraged to apply.

About the Opportunity

This opportunity exists within MW’s Water Supply Operations team.  This team is responsible for safely operating and maintaining the large water supply assets within Melbourne.

You will also study and work towards completing a Certificate III in Water Operations through our training provider based in Cranbourne, and this training will be a combination of on-the-job and off-the-job study.

To be considered, you must have a valid driver's license and own a vehicle, as at times travel will be required between working hours. Company vehicles are also provided.

Learning Opportunities

Throughout your training, you will learn:

  • Monitoring, controlling and optimising flow and distribution systems, treatment and processes in accordance with Melbourne Water policy, procedures and quality management guidelines.
  • Adjusting plant operational settings in response to changes in hydraulic flows, performance issues, plant/equipment shutdowns and recharge for system maintenance.
  • Undertaking routine testing, monitoring and inspection of transfer and treatment systems.
  • to responding to and determine plant/equipment faults, and adjusting operational settings accordingly.
