Salary and Benefits:  $55K – $59K + Allowances + 12% Super + commuter use of Council Ute

Compliance Officer

Primary Role:
To provide customer focused administration and enforcement of Council’s laws and relevant State Legislation

Key Responsibilities:
Key duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Prioritise, investigate and respond to customer requests.
  • Provide professional, technical advice and support in relation to compliance issues.
  • Undertake enforcement duties and regular inspections in accordance with relevant legislation.
  • Inspect properties, investigate complaints and serve notices to ensure compliance with Council’s local laws and relevant State legislation.
  • Issue correspondence, directions, compliance notices and enforcement notices for alleged breaches of relevant legislation, and ensure effective follow through.
  • Undertake investigations, obtain appropriate evidence and make recommendations for lawful proceedings as required.
  • Undertake water sampling as required.
  • Impound straying domestic animals, stray stock, abandoned vehicles, illegal advertising devices and other illegally placed goods as required on a public place.
  • Design, implement, manage and coordinate projects and targeted management programs.
  • Assist with community education programs eg. drumMUSTER, National Desexing Network, Microchipping Days, petPEP etc.
  • Complete additional activities and reasonable directions given by management.

Additional Factors:
Participation in after hours and weekend work is a requirement of this position.
Level of fitness required to undertake a broad range of physical tasks.

Licences / Tickets / Qualifications:

  1. Minimum – “C” class Driver Licence
  2. Eligibility to obtain “ Working with Children Check” (Blue Card)
  3. Although not essential, a Cert III in Local Government (Regulatory Services), or the willingness to obtain, will be an advantage
