School Crossing Supervisor


  • Permanent Part time or Casual

  • Permanent Part time - hourly rate $26.08 to $26.84 (inclusive of industry allowance) and 9.5% superannuation. 

  • Casual – hourly rate $26.08 to $26.84 (inclusive of industry allowance), plus 25% casual loading and 9.5% superannuation


This position is situated within the Local Laws and Traffic Unit.  The Local Laws and Traffic Unit is a section of the Planning and Development Department.  The unit’s core function is to protect community safety and amenity through the enforcement of State and Local Laws. 


The Local Laws and Traffic Unit’s responsibilities are to service the City of Ballarat’s monitoring and enforcement needs in relation to:

  • Traffic and parking
  • Local laws
  • Animal control
  • Fire prevention


The person appointed to this position will perform the duties associated with the position of School Crossing Supervisor.


Key Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated commitment to serving the local community whilst maintaining a professional standard of presentation and grooming.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to people at all levels.
  • Ability to manage groups of people and demonstrate assertiveness when required.
  • Ability to make judgements in intercepting traffic and ensuring a safe environment for crossing.
  • Excellent time management skills and punctuality.
  • Ability to work autonomously with a commitment to contributing to the Unit’s goals.
  • Knowledge and understanding of health and safety issues relevant to work activities and work area.
