The Business Unit

The Environmental Compliance Business Unit delivers regulation, enforcement, and education services that protect the public, the environment and groups such as residents, tenants, workers and businesses.


This Business Unit is involved with the investigation and enforcement of legislation, council policy, and customer requests in relation to parking and companion animals, public health and pollution matters, building/development, land use and fire safety, as well as providing private certification services. 


The Role and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Ranger Coordinator the role of Ranger is to enforce legislation and policy to ensure council provides best practice compliance services that protect and enhance the environment and the safety of the community.


Selection Criteria

  • A Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services) or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant sections of the Local Government Act 1993, Companion Animals Act 1998, Impounding Act 1993, Road Rules 2014, Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997, Road Transport Act 2013, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Rural Fires Act 1997 and other legislation relevant to the position.
  • Experience working as a Ranger or in an enforcement role.
